Roles

Nabil M. Drawil is an associate professor at the University of Tripoli. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Waterloo, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He received his M.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 2007, and his B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Tripoli, Tripoli, Libya, in 1998.

He started the journey of research work with the topic of speaker identification using neural networks in 1998, while delivering his B.Sc. graduation project. During his M.Sc. study, his research work was related to localizing faulty sensors in sensor networks, and improving vehicular localization systems in multi-path environments. While his Ph.D research revolved around the development of integrity-driven hybrid fusion techniques for vehicle localization. In recent years, Drawil’s research focus on employing the Artificial Intelligence technologies in enhancing robotic-control applications, teaching using augmented reality methodologies, and developing smart-electronic-meters; in addition to, supporting social services such as facilitating communication with the deaf and mute through automated Arabic sign language and developing automated personal physical fitness trainers, and many more project. He is also, interested in further developing the machine learning techniques themselves.

Dr. Drawil delivered wide ranges of course on both hardware and software sides of computer engineering during his career. The hardware courses ranges from Circuits and Systems, Microelectronics, to data acquisition and control. In the software side, he used to conduct Operating systems, Numerical methods and analysis, and data structures and algorithms. Laboratories of data structure, operating systems, and electronics are delivered by dr Nabil from time to time.

His hands on experience encompasses:  Bipolar and FET implementations of continuous and switched amplifiers, modulators, converters, and filters Programming and Embedded Systems: C, C++, Java, Visual C#, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby on Rails, UNIX shell scripting, GNUmake, SQL, MySQL, MATLAB, and others Embedded hardware including Motorola MCF5307, LPC17xxwithARMprocessor, NXT-Lego, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi. Mobile Application development using Android Studio.

Dr Nabil Drawil served as a reviewer for a number of renowned research journals and conferences, to name few, IEEE Transactions on ITS, IEEE Transactions on TVT, IEEE Communication Letters, The International Journal for the Computer and Telecommunications Industry, ELSEVIER, International Conference on Control and Fault Tolerant Systems, International Conference on Modeling, Simulation, and Applied Optimization.
