Roles

Rajab Abobakir is one of the staff members at the department of Geological engineering, faculty of Engineering. He is working as a since. He teaches several subjects in his major and has several publications in the field of his interest.

Careers

 I joined UOT in April 2011 as lecturer in geological engineering department, before that I spent 25 years with oil industries (Sirt Oil Company and Libyan petroleum institute).

I have been promoted to assistance professor at the end of 2012, I involved in teaching many courses for postgraduate and undergraduate students such as petroleum geology, stratigraphy, applied biostratigraphy in oil industries, source rock evaluation & reservoir properties. I also participate in the geological field trips, which usually arranged every semester for the geological engineering students.

I have participated in many conferences during 2013 & 2014 in Egypt and Turkey and I have published many publications in the field of petroleum industries .

In the begging of the year 2017, I have been promoted to associated professor, and by end of 2018 I have been assigned as high education office coordinator in the geological engineering  department.

Research Interests

 My interest mainly related to organic petrology (palynology, applied biostratigraphy, source rock evaluation, petroleum geochemistry) and also reservoir properties.

I have published many articles in local conferences and international Journals (Journal of African Earth Sciences & Bulletin institute of Sciences).

I have number of manuscripts under review and working on projects in my related areas.

External Activities

 Since I joined UOT, I have involved and participate in number of projects with LPI (Libyan Petroleum Institute) related to my areas of interest. I also participate as Examiner of many MSc students  in Libyan Academic for high educations. 

I have also reviewed and evaluated number of articles for many Libyan universities staff.
