Salem Farhat is one of the staff members at the department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering faculty of Engineering. He is working as a Prof. since 2017-03-20. He teaches several subjects in his major and has several publications in the field of his interest.

He held several positions, including director of the Graduate Studies Office at the faculty of Engineering, from 2012 to 2015. Director of the Academic courses discretion Program Office of the faculty of Engineering from 2015 to 2017. Head of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, faculty of Engineering, University of Tripoli, from 2017 to 2019. Director of the Office of Graduate Studies, faculty of Engineering, University of Tripoli, from 2023 to the present. Member of qualifications equivalency at the faculty of Engineering from 2022 to the present

Careers

After getting a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Tripoli, as a teaching assistant in the faculty on 1/1/1987, then I got a master’s degree in 1996 from the University of Warsaw in Poland, then I worked at the University of Tripoli as a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering with the degree of assistant lecturer Then I completed my postgraduate studies and got a PhD from the University of Manchester, UK, in 2005. Then I started my work at the University of Tripoli / Faculty of Engineering / Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering with a lecturer degree, then I got the degree of assistant professor in 2008, then the degree of associate professor in 2013, in 2017 got the degree of professor. Also, in addition to academic work, I worked as a coordinator for postgraduate studies in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and as a director of the Office of Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Tripoli and Head of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, University of Tripoli. And director of the academic courses discretion  program office in the Facluty.

Research Interests

My scientific interests are scientific research related to thermodynamics and fluid mechanics and dynamic analysis of combustion instability in continuous combustion chambers of gas turbine engines and turbojet engines. This is through the research that has been published, some scientific conferences, and the supervision of master's theses in the faculty.

External Activities

The work I have done as a faculty member outside the university, an external examiner in some (local) Libyan universities for master's theses, and a reviewer for some research papers of local and international journals, including Measurement Science and Technology (MST), and also a resident for promotions for faculty members in local universities within the Libyan state
