Department of Civil Law

Word Of the Head Department of Civil Law

The Private Law Department is considered one of the largest departments in the college for several reasons:

First: Most of the subjects scheduled throughout the four years (eight semesters) are private law subjects. The private law subjects study the spirit and depth of the law, starting from the philosophy of law to the history of the law, and the most important thing is the civil law, which regulates the relationships of individuals and no society can do without it.

The second: is that the subjects of private law are very diverse, and we must know that - which is unfortunate - we are not like other developed countries that teach all subjects of private relations, because we have not deviate from the core subjects that are known and have been taught in our law schools since the day they were founded in the sixties.

It is true that many of our (private) laws are advanced and good, but we are required to modernize and keep pace with international universities, and this is what we seek...

The department includes the best professors of private law (jurisprudence) in Libya. They are well-known names inside and outside the country. They are the ones who amended and even drafted the laws issued in Libya in the past years, such as civil law, commercial law, labor law, civil procedure law, banking law, and civil law.  Nationality, and other laws. International organizations attest to the quality of these laws in form and content. The department also includes a huge group of young professors, some of whom were teaching assistants at the college, and others were appointed because of their good competence, and they perform their academic duties well.

Finally: The Private Law Department is one of the most effective departments in terms of public activities and lectures, and the number of department activities is not less than eight activities during one academic year.
