As a dedicated faculty member in the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tripoli, my professional philosophy extends beyond the conventional boundaries of lecture halls and university laboratories. I firmly believe that a robust academic career is intrinsically linked to active engagement with the broader medical, scientific, and social community. Consequently, my external activities are meticulously designed to bridge the gap between fundamental physiological sciences and their practical, clinical, and community applications. These activities span external academic examining, clinical consultancy, scientific society memberships, international collaborative research, and community health advocacy.

External Academic Examining and SupervisionA significant component of my external academic portfolio involves serving as an External Examiner for both Master's and PhD programs across various Libyan higher education institutions. I have had the privilege of evaluating postgraduate theses and dissertations at institutions such as the Academy of Graduate Studies and the Faculty of Science at the University of Misurata. In this capacity, I rigorously assess the scientific merit, experimental design, and physiological relevance of candidate research. Furthermore, I actively participate in viva voce examination panels, providing critical, objective feedback that upholds the national standards of biomedical education. In addition to examination duties, I offer my expertise as an External Supervisor for postgraduate students whose research intersects with renal and cardiovascular physiology, ensuring that their projects maintain strong methodological rigor and clinical translatability.

Clinical Practice and Consultancy in PhysiologyTo maintain a synergistic relationship between basic science and bedside medicine, I engage in ongoing clinical practice as a Physiology Consultant. I regularly provide specialized consultative services at private medical clinics in Tripoli, where I apply advanced physiological principles to diagnose and manage complex cases involving acid-base balance disorders, endocrine dysfunctions, and neurophysiological conditions. This clinical role is not merely a service to the community; it serves as a vital feedback loop for my teaching. By staying actively involved in patient care, I enrich my lectures with real-world case studies, ensuring that our medical students appreciate the direct applicability of physiology to patient diagnosis and treatment planning.

Membership in Professional and Scientific SocietiesI maintain active memberships in several prestigious national and international scientific organizations to remain at the forefront of physiological research and pedagogy. I am a proud member of the Libyan Society for Medical Sciences, where I contribute to the national dialogue on medical education reform. On an international scale, I am affiliated with the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) and the American Physiological Society (APS) . Through these platforms, I network with global peers, access cutting-edge research, and participate in collaborative initiatives aimed at advancing the discipline of physiology in the MENA region.

Conference Presentations and Workshop FacilitationI have a strong record of active participation in both national and international scientific conferences. I have presented original research findings on the molecular mechanisms of hypertension and metabolic syndrome at several flagship events, including the annual Libyan International Conference on Medical Sciences. Beyond presenting, I have taken on the role of Workshop Facilitator, leading hands-on sessions for early-career researchers on advanced laboratory techniques, such as patch-clamp electrophysiology and isolated organ perfusion systems. I have also organized specialized workshops for our medical students on "Innovative Teaching Methodologies in Physiology," aiming to shift the learning paradigm from passive memorization to active, problem-based inquiry.

Research Collaboration and Peer ReviewMy external engagement extends into scholarly publication and peer review. I serve as a Reviewer for several indexed medical and physiological journals, contributing my expertise to ensure the integrity and quality of published biomedical research. Furthermore, I have established inter-institutional research collaborations with academic centers in Tunisia and Turkey. These collaborative projects focus on exploring the physiological impacts of environmental stress on metabolic health, resulting in several co-authored publications that have enhanced the international visibility of Libyan medical research.

Community Service and Public Health AdvocacyRecognizing the social responsibility of the medical academic, I actively volunteer in community health awareness campaigns. I have participated in multiple large-scale Blood Donation Drives organized in collaboration with the Tripoli Central Blood Bank, providing medical oversight and educating the public on the physiological benefits of regular blood donation. Additionally, I have delivered public lectures at community centers on "Lifestyle, Stress, and Physiological Aging," aiming to translate complex scientific concepts into actionable advice for the general public. I also participate annually in national diabetes and hypertension screening campaigns, where I counsel patients on the physiological mechanisms of their conditions and the importance of adherence to therapeutic regimens.
