Dr. Eman Derbi has been a faculty member in the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Medical Technology, University of Tripoli, since 2009 and continues to serve in this position to the present day. She obtained her PhD from Swansea University, United Kingdom, and her Master's degree from the University of Westminster, United Kingdom. She teaches a variety of courses in Public Health and supervises numerous undergraduate graduation projects. During her service in the department, she has held several administrative positions, including Coordinator of Academic Affairs and Examinations, Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Postgraduate Studies Office at the Faculty of Medical Technology, and Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Postgraduate Programs in the Department of Public Health.

Research Interests

My research interests lie broadly within the field of Public Health, with a particular focus on health promotion and health education as key strategies for improving health behaviors and outcomes at both individual and population levels. I am especially interested in examining the social determinants of health and their influence on health equity, health status, and population well-being, with emphasis on the complex interplay of socioeconomic, environmental, and structural factors that shape health outcomes.

My research also encompasses nutrition and public health nutrition, particularly the role of dietary factors in disease prevention, health promotion, and quality-of-life enhancement across diverse populations. In addition, I have a strong interest in the epidemiology and prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, and cancer, with a focus on identifying modifiable risk factors and evaluating evidence-based interventions aimed at reducing disease burden.

Furthermore, I am interested in school health and health education programs, as well as community-based public health interventions designed to strengthen preventive health practices and promote sustainable behavior change. Through these areas of inquiry, I seek to contribute to the development of evidence-based public health policies and interventions that improve population health outcomes and advance health equity.
