Roles

Dr. Ibtisam Ben Omran is an Assistant Professor in Nursing Fundamentals at the University of Tripoli. She teaches, supervises graduation projects, and has managed over eleven research studies on chronic disease prevention in Libya. She is involved in educational quality committees and oversees the accreditation process for the Faculty of Nursing. Dr. Ibtisam also manages the Faculty's new postgraduate program, Libya’s first, serving twenty-three students. She coordinated the study abroad of four teaching assistants to the University of Southampton, where they earned their master’s degrees. She holds a Master’s in Physiology from Manchester Metropolitan University and a Bachelor’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Tripoli.

Careers

Ibtisam bin Omran held the position of a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy at Al-Marqab University from 2011 to 2016, then moved to the College of Nursing at the University of Tripoli in 2016, and was assigned to the Office of Postgraduate Studies, Training and Teaching Assistants at the college in 2017.

Research Interests

Ibtisam bin Omran's research interests focus on conducting research in physiology, and she has published many research papers in her field of specialization.

External Activities

Dr. Ibtisam Ben Omran has participated as a member of accreditation audit committees for several public universities, assigned by the National Center for Quality Assurance of Educational and Training Institutions at the Ministry of Higher Education. These universities include:

• Misrata University, Faculty of Medicine
• Al-Zawiya University, Faculty of Medicine
• Sabratha University, Faculty of Medicine

Dr. Ibtisam has also been actively involved in community and environmental service. She helped organise the Umm al-Saraya convoy to support Dar Al-Wafa for the elderly and Dar Al-Raya for girls in Tripoli. Additionally, she participated in and supervised the "Faz'a Khout" campaign to aid the victims of the Derna floods.
