Umaima Mohamed Elfurawi was appointed to the Physics Department in 2000 as a research assistant, the same year in which she obtained a master’s degree from the same department.

During this period, Dr. Umaima at the university:
- As a member of the department’s study and examinations committee for more than 16 years, in addition to 3 years as committee coordinator (2020-2022)
- As a member of the University Sustainability Committee
- As a coordinator of physics courses at the Faculty of Engineering for the final batches of specialized secondary schools
Research Interests
D. Umaima is interested in the following topics:
- Semiconductors and nano-semiconductors
- Solar cells
- Quantum physics (recently she joined a research group working in this field)
External Activities
Dr. Umaima Elfurawi participated in volunteer work related to preparing experiments for specialized and general high school laboratories in the field of physics during the previous years, this included repeated visits to the laboratories of those schools and helping their supervisors in identifying unknown devices and running some experiments. Among these schools are Toledo high school, Rayat Al-Hurriya, Shams Al-Ma’rifa, Soha Bishara in the Andalus neighborhood, and Bashir Al-Usta School in Souq Al-Jumaa.
