Associated Prof. Anwar Mustafa Abdalmula Alessawi is one of the academic staff members in Department of Physiology, Biochemistry and Animal Nutrition, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tripoli. He currently delivers lectures of biochemistry to the first year students and conduct researches in the area of veterinary biochemistry and has many publications in international peer-reviewed journals.

Careers

Following his graduation in 1999, Dr. Anwar Alessawi joined the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry and Animal Nutrition in 2001 as a demonstrator till 2006 when he earned a scholarship from the Libyan Government to postgraduate study in Australia. He earned his master’s degree and PhD in biochemistry from Melbourne University in 2009 and 2013 respectively, before he returned to Libya and resumed working in the Faculty as a lecturer in 2014, Assistant Professor in 2018 and Associated Professor in 2023 till now. 

Research Interests

Dr. Anwar Alessawi is currently interested in clinical biochemistry research of farm animals such as camels, horses and goats as well as study the biochemical changes in many blood variables in laboratory animals such as rats.

External Activities

Teaching theoretical and practical biochemistry courses for the 1st year students, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Tripoli in 2015.
