At the outset, I would like to have mercy on the members and founders of the Department of Poultry and Fish Diseases, Dr. Muhammad Abdulhafeez Al-Arabi and Dr. Suleiman Imran Al-Gharib, who were with us hand in hand to build this department, so we pray for them mercy and forgiveness in this word. The faculty members of the Department of Poultry and Fish Diseases, my fellow faculty members of the College of Veterinary Medicine, my respected sons, the students and the staff of the department and the college, and the laboratory technician in the department and the college. We in the Department of Poultry and Fish Diseases always strive for excellence and work as a team. The Department of Poultry and Fish Diseases has achieved many achievements. The department’s production of scientific research published in scientific journals internationally and locally has reached nearly (50) scientific papers, and the department was able to complete (9) theses for Master degree. The department was approve for postgraduate studies since  2010, and the department has contributed to solving many problems facing livestock and marine wealth through committees formed by the relevant ministries in which our members of the department are experts and consultants. Members of the department also contribute to community service from through some NGOs. We in the department are always striving for development and innovation and searching for new ways to develop the educational and research process and we will spare no effort in this direction so that the department and college graduates are at a level where they are able to compete in the local and global labor market. Vision

The department caters to needs of teaching, research and extension in discipline of poultry and fish diseases up to BVSc and MVSc levels. It plays an important role to carry out research on poultry and fish for precisely pinpointing the causes of death. 

Mission

Graduating highly qualified cadres in the fields of veterinary medical sciences, capable of covering and responding to the requirements of the labor market through advanced scientific and professional activities to serve the community.

Objectives

    The department, through the capabilities provided by the Ministry of Higher Education and the university, and in cooperation with the departments related to the college and other similar colleges, as well as national and international universities and research centers, aims to:

1. Preparing highly qualified scientific and technical cadres.

2. Developing curricula in line with the requirements of the labor market.

3. Doing scientific research and publishing it in international scientific journals to serve the public interest.

4. Communicate with the community by providing educational programs that contribute to raising the awareness of educators.
