Roles

Dr. Nwer is a faculty member in the Soil and Water Department at the Faculty of Agriculture, Tripoli, with the degree of Associate Professor. Mr. Nwer has been working at the University of Tripoli since 01/04/2000 and has authored three books and many other scientific publications in both Arabic and English in the field of land assessment and applications of geographic information systems and remote sensing in agricultural, environmental, and engineering sciences.

Experience and qualifications (Ph.D. - associate professor) in Soil Survey, classification, and mapping using geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing techniques (RS), developing environmental programs, and producing digital maps. In addition to this, he is experienced and has high technical skills in preparing and delivering presentations in English.

Dr. Nwer also supervised a large number of graduate researchers within the Soil and Water Department. He also supervised a number of master's theses in the Soil and Water Department. Dr. Nwer is also a referee for a number of local and international scientific magazines and periodicals. He is also a registered expert with a number of international organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

Dr. Nwer has an excellent leadership qualities with extensive administrative experience, where he worked and t as Head National Committee to Combat Desertification, as Assistant Deputy Minister, and then as acting Deputy Minister.

External Activities

• Worked as a national focal point for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and was elected as deputy head of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification Review Office  (CRIC) and a rapporteur of the Conference of  Parties for the ninth session (COP9) in Bonn (Germany) and a rapporteur for the tenth session (COP10) Changwon (South Korea) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). In addition to long experience working with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as a consultant and expert in the fields of agriculture.

•  Experience working with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as a consultant and expert in the fields of agriculture (soil - water - food security - combating desertification - climate change) he also possesses leadership capabilities supported by experience in management and the ability to communicate and lead teams the work. In addition, he has excellent English.
