Roles
The artist works as a lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Media, University of Tripoli. She is a member of the Dar Al-Funun Foundation, a founding member of the Beit Iskandar Foundation for Arts and Culture, a member of the Barah Foundation for Culture and Arts, Benghazi, and the Public Relations Manager at the Libyan Society for Fine Arts.
Careers
She obtained a bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Arts and Media, University of Tripoli, in 1996. She completed her postgraduate studies in Serbia, where she obtained a master's degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Belgrade, in 1998. She studied in Egypt and obtained a doctorate from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Alexandria, in 2010.
Research Interests
The artist draws inspiration for her artistic ideas from the spiritual secrets of the magic of the cave drawings of the Libyan desert, Acacus, and the decorations of the houses of Ghadames. With her passion for the southern Libyan heritage, she was able to transfer the Libyan cultural heritage from ancient to modern. Her treatment of ancient Libyan history in a contemporary way in her works made the Italian University of Rome, La Sapienza, classify her as a pioneer of the contemporary school of Libyan rock art - according to the Libyan researcher, Dr. Mustafa Al-Tarjuman.
External Activities
Al-Farjani was selected as an international judge for the Afak International Foundation for Arab Culture in 2019, and the Takreem Foundation for Culture and Arts in 2022. The artist Ilham participated in many exhibitions locally between Tripoli and Benghazi and internationally in Tunisia - Egypt - Lebanon - Sharjah - Dubai - Serbia - London - Cordoba - Barcelona... One of her works was acquired by the Sharjah Museum, and with her national participation on the occasion of the liberation of Lebanese lands, seven of her works were also acquired by the UNESCO Palace in Lebanon.
