The Department of social work is one of the Departments of the Faculty of Education, Qasr bin ghashir, established in 2008 with the aim of graduating cadres of specialists in the school field, where school social work is a field of social work, which is a tool for Theoretical and applied knowledge, and uses the methods and techniques of the profession in achieving linking the educational institution with the family and community issues .

Objectives

  • Enable students to know the concepts, values, principles and fundamentals of the profession of Social Work and social welfare.
  • To provide students with the professional knowledge and skills necessary to understand and interpret students ' problems through professional practice processes, (individual service, community service, community organization).
  • Providing students with theoretical and professional knowledge and information to deal with society groups and how to benefit from them in professional intervention(caring for special groups-areas of social service).
  • Preparing students professionally through the training process to work in the school environment.
  • To provide students with the ability to deal with problems and diagnose contemporary social phenomena and issues.
  • Providing students with skills and the basics of scientific research methods and techniques when conducting social research .
  • Students ' commitment to the principles and ethics of the social work profession and respect for applicable laws and legislations.
  • Providing students with educational and psychological skills, principles and basics of Arabic, English, Islamic Studies and computers .

Outcomes

The program aims to graduate cadres of social workers in the school field, which is an area of social service, and the importance of preparing specialized cadres to work in the school field comes from the need of the labor market in educational institutions that require the provision of an appropriate school environment that contributes to the preparation of growing up .

Entry Reuirements

Students are admitted to the department in accordance with the rules stipulated in the study and examination regulations and the following rules and conditions by the college or university administration, which are mostly :

  • The student must have a high school diploma or equivalent with an average of at least 70%.
  • The student must successfully pass the oral and written entrance exam.
  • The student must undergo a personal interview.
  • The student must observe the regulations and laws in force within the college and the department and comply with them .

Study Plan

The Bachelor in Social Work prepares students to qualify for Bachelor in Social Work. The student studies several subjects which have been carefully chosen in this major to cover its different aspects.

It comprises 8 Semesters of study, in which the student will study a total of 136 units, which include 44 units of general subjects, and 80 major units, 6 of elective units. In addition to a final project in the student's major.
