Education has an important role in the progress of man, and the development of his communication capabilities with various other peoples in order to learn about their sciences and intellectual production, and to transfer what serves the development process. And if language is the vessel of this scientific intellectual production, then on the one hand, teaching and learning languages was important for understanding that product and apprehending its sciences, but on the other hand, this will be in light of the development of human communication, cultural, touristic, and civilized communication, and a basic requirement in the development of everything It serves sustainable development, achieving cultural cohesion and constructive communication between the people of this country and the peoples of the world.

  The Faculty of Languages is one of the edifices of science and knowledge in the State of Libya. It specializes in languages and translation on the basis of scientific theory for more than a quarter of a century. Therefore, it is the window through which the University of Tripoli looks at the languages and cultures of the world. In fact, it is a real channel for the State of Libya to communicate and dialogue with the world. collect.

  Accordingly, we, in the College of Languages, with all its systems, have the right to be a bridge of knowledge to view and understand the various global scientific and intellectual vessels and then transfer them to reach active participation in the production of human knowledge. From this standpoint, the College is currently moving towards activating its role in cultural communication, by striving for the continuous development of the educational process In the college, departments and divisions were created to teach other living languages, in addition to developing the translation department to be a distinguished research institution of high quality in the fields of translation and Arabization of the languages of the college’s departments, and making it a center to facilitate cultural and intellectual communication. Whether in the local environment or in international forums, which supports and is in line with the new strategy approved by the university, to achieve a comprehensive scientific renaissance in the State of Libya.

A distinguished college that provides the community with specialists in the fields of teaching modern languages and translation, and participates in covering the requirements of the labor market in terms of teachers, university professors, translators and linguistic reviewers, and contributes to building bridges of knowledge and cultural communication between peoples.

Mission

Providing theoretical and applied knowledge in the fields of languages and translation, to meet the community's need for specialists, teaching Arabic and English to university students in all faculties, and teaching Arabic to non-native speakers who wish to study in university faculties.

Objectives

  • Preparation of cadres specialized in modern languages and translation.
  • Developing the skills of male and female students in the field of language learning, and training in translation work of all kinds.
  • Linking the specializations of the departments with the needs of the labor market and development requirements.
  • Encouraging research, authoring, and investigation in languages and translation.
  • Participation in international conferences in the fields of languages and translation and holding specialized scientific seminars.
  • Providing expertise and specialized advice to the public and private sectors.
  • Community service by doing written and interpreting work.
  • Preparing, designing, implementing and reviewing languages and translation programs as needed in accordance with university regulations.
  • Implementing courses aimed at various sectors of society, and meeting the needs of public institutions for training in the fields of languages and translation.
  • Continuous contact with institutes, colleges and similar bodies in the world to benefit from their experiences in the field of specialization.
  • Enriching the movement of translation and Arabization from and to the Arabic language.
  • Granting a specialized bachelor's degree, as well as paving the way to postgraduate studies by granting higher diplomas (Masters) and minors (PhD).
  • Revitalizing the role of the Division of Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers, which began in the late seventies in teaching more than fifty nationalities.
