After being transferred as a lecturer in December 2020 to the University of Tripoli, Faculty of Law, Dr. Afrah Mukhtar ALATI is currently working as a permanent faculty member with the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Islamic Sharia at the same college. 

She was also appointed by the department as an academic supervisor for the Personal Status Family in the department. She is a member of the Graduate Studies Committee in the same department. She participated in preparing reports and models related to the institutional and programmatic accreditation of the department required by the Quality Assurance Office at the college. Afrah gives lectures in the subject of Personal Status to second-year students at the college, and works to make the lectures interactive between the professor and the students, and to give an important part of the lectures to the practical judicial aspect. She also works to encourage the culture of scientific research within the department and the college, through her various scientific activities.

Careers

Before the decision to transfer her to the University of Tripoli, Afrah worked as a teaching assistant during the period from 2004-2007 at the Faculty of Law - Zliten, University of Al-Mirqab (Libya). After that, she was appointed by changing her title to a faculty member with the rank of assistant lecturer in 2008 at the same faculty. After obtaining a doctorate in private law from France, Afrah became a faculty member with the rank of lecturer in law at the Faculty of Economics, and then at the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Asmariya Islamic University (Libya), from January 2019 to the end of December 2020.

Research Interests

Afrah ALATI  has several scientific publications, including two books, one in Arabic and the other in French. She has also published more than 16 research papers in Arabic and French in peer-reviewed scientific journals at the national and international levels, including: 

The famous French legal journal: LPA The Mexican legal journal: Revue Ciencia Jurídica, Université de Guanajuato-Mexique The French journal: RJO, Université de Rennes1 The Journal of Sharia and Legal Sciences, Faculty of Law, University of Al-Marqab (Libya), and many others. She has a number of research papers on their way to publication. Afrah ALATI has participated in many conferences and seminars inside and outside Libya, and has many scientific activities. She has also participated in preparing a number of scientific seminars, and has refereed a number of scientific research papers. Dr. Afrah's interests are in the field of personal status in Libyan and comparative law.

External Activities

 Afrah ALATI worked in previous periods 2009-2010 AD under cooperation contracts with the University of Tripoli and Al-Asmariya University for Islamic Sciences. In a previous period, she supervised a number of graduation researches in the College of Islamic Studies at Al-Asmariya University for Islamic Sciences (Libya).
