Roles

After an academic career spanning more than 30 years in university teaching at Sebha University, where I held the position of Senior Lecturer, I served as the Head of the Department of Botany for two different terms. I also founded the Microbiology Department and chaired it from its inception in 2017 until 2020 at the Faculty of Science, Sebha University. Currently, I work as a full-time professor in the Department of Botany at the Faculty of Science, University of Tripoli, Libya. My focus is on teaching and scientific research.

I teach microbiology in its various branches and supervise several master's theses for graduate students. In addition to teaching, I am an active researcher in various scientific fields.

Furthermore, I contribute to the editorial board of the "International Journal of Science", where I serve as an active member.

  • Research Interests

    Research Interests:

    1. General Microbiology: Study of various types of microorganisms and their environmental and biological impacts.
    2. Extraction of Active Compounds from Medicinal Plants: Researching the role of plant extracts as agents against harmful microbes and their use as natural antibiotics.
    3. Water Microbiology: Study of microorganisms in water sources and their effects on health and the environment.
    4. Soil Microbiology in Agriculture: Analysis of the relationships between soil microorganisms and plant diseases, and their impact on crop health and soil quality.
    5. Dairy Microbiology: Study of microorganisms in dairy products and their effects on food quality and safety.
    6. Pathogenic Bacteria and Antibiotics: Research on bacteria that cause diseases in humans and developing strategies to combat them using antibiotics.

    External Activities

    Activities Outside the University:

    • Active member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Science: Contribute to the review and editing of scientific articles and participate in the development of the journal.
    • Private tutoring outside of working hours: Provide private lessons and supervise students in various scientific fields.
    • Supervision of workshops: Organize and oversee specialized workshops in the fields of microbiology and scientific research.
