Prof. Dr. Emad Bennour is an academic staff member in the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Prof. Bennour works at the University of Tripoli as a professor/researcer and has many scientific publications. He is currently the head of the Department of Internal Medicine and the Editor-in-Chief of the Libyan Journal of Veterinary Medicine and Medical Sciences, which is published by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tripoli.
Careers
Prof. Bennour is currently a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. He started his career as a Demonstrator (teaching assistant) at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. He obtained the master’s degree in 2005, then the PhD in 2009 from the University of Franche-Comte in France.
He got many of competitive scholarships on the academic and administrative levels.
On the administrative level, Prof. Bennour held many administrative positions as a head of scientific and administrative departments and the Director of the International Cooperation Office at the University of Tripoli. He also served as a contact point for many international institutions and organizations.
He is currently the Deputy Director General of the National Authority for DNA Fingerprinting Research and Analysis and Editor-in-Chief of the Libyan Journal of Veterinary Medicine and Medical Sciences, which is published by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tripoli.
Research Interests
Prof. Bennour has many publications in several international peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is interested in molecular medical science research. He is also interested in studying infectious diseases (including transboundary ones), cancer, and vaccine/vaccination studies.
External Activities
Prof. Bannour worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute - Florida, affiliated to the University of Oregon, USA.
He worked as a director for several capacity building and academic exchange projects within the framework of the European Erasmus Mundus and Erasmus+ programmes.
He got the Fulbright Visiting Scholar scholarship in the field of public health in USA in 2013.
He was finally nominated by the European Commission as Director of the National Erasmus+ Office in Libya.
He is currently the Leader of the Group for Vaccination Advice for Transboundary Diseases in the Middle East of the European Commission for Foot and Mouth Disease and the FAO.
