Research Interests

My general area of interest is Microbiology. My specific area of expertise is Virology, Immunology and Vaccinology. I have published many articles on Foot-and-Mouth Disease virus, Bluetongue Virus, West Nile virus

Research Team Leader for the project titled “Genetic authentication of bacterial isolates from meat and milk products in Libya and establishing the Food-borne Libyan-type Bacterial Collection (FLBC)” that was supported by a grant provided by the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research

External Activities

Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the international peer-reviewed journal “Open Veterinary Journal” where the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tripoli is the Publisher

Trainer in TCP/LIB/3701 (FAO project) with the title "Emergency support to the Libyan Veterinary Services for combatting major zoonotic and transboundary animal diseases" during 2020-2021

Member of a Libyan Expert Committee to prepare a “Strategy for the Progressive Control and Eradication of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) and Other Priority Diseases of Small Ruminants (SRDs) for Libya (2019 -2030)”

Trainer in OSRO/LIB/801/CHA (FAO project) with the title "Emergency assistance for outbreaks of deadly Zoonotic diseases (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, Rift Valley Fever and Rabies) in Libya" during 2019

Trainer in “A training of trainers on epidemio-surveillance of (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, Rift Valley Fever and Rabies), Good Emergency Management Practices and veterinary communication” that was held in Tunis 28 January till 1 February 2019
