Fathia Shakhtur is a faculty member in the Department of Food Science and Technology, ‎Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tripoli‏.‏‎ Ms. Dr. Fathia Shakhtour has been working a ‎lecturer at the University of Tripoli since 1-9-2019 and has scientific publications in her field ‎of specialization in both Arabic and English. Most of her research has been published in ‎local and international peer-reviewed journals, in addition to her participation and ‎attendance in many local and international conferences, seminars and workshops related ‎to her specialization. She is currently working as Head of Food Science and Technology ‎Department‏. ‏

Careers

Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology from 12/1/2020 until now. Lecturer 2019-2024 Department of Food Science and Technology - Faculty of Agriculture - University of Tripoli. Assistant Lecturer 2005-2009 Department of Food Science and Technology - University of Tripoli. Teaching Assistant 1999-2005 Faculty of Agriculture Department of Food Science and Technology - University of Tripoli.

Research Interests

 Dr. Fathia Shakhtour is interested in research related to the following fields: food biochemistry, food analysis, oils and fats, bread and bakery products, preserving and extending the shelf life of food, sugars and sweets, marine oils and fish processing and preservation, food microbiology.   

 

External Activities

Currently, Dr. Fathia Shakhtour Head of the Technical Committee in the field of bread, bakery products and yeast at the National Center for Standards and Metrology.‎  Head of the Preparatory Committee for the workshop on food quality and safety and its control systems in Libya under the slogan Between Updating and Evaluation, held in the auditorium of Dr. Muhammad Shaqroun, Faculty of Agriculture / organized by the Department of Food Science and Technology, August 6-7, 2023.‎  Member of the Preparatory Committee for the 4th Food Security Symposium under the slogan Food Security in Light of Climate Change, held in the auditorium of Dr. Muhammad Shaqroun, Faculty of Agriculture / organized by the Faculty of Agriculture / University of Tripoli, October 14-15, 2023.‎  A referee in several local and international scientific journals.‎ ‎ Founding member of the Libyan Society for Mycotoxins and Food Contaminants‎.‎ Founding member of the Libyan Society for Food and Nutrition‎.‎
