Dr. Thuraya Al-Bashir Al-Wifati is a faculty member in the Department of Translation and Arabization at the Faculty of Languages, University of Tripoli, holding the rank of Assistant Professor. She has also been serving as a sworn translator at the North Tripoli Court of First Instance since 2006. Since her appointment at the Faculty in 2010, she has been entrusted with teaching several academic courses, particularly in the fields of translation and applied linguistics. In addition, she has supervised numerous graduation projects and actively contributed to organizing scientific activities and events related to translation within the Faculty.

Dr. Thuraya Al-Wifati has also contributed, and continues to contribute, to the translation of quality assurance documents and strategic plans for several faculties, including the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Languages, reflecting her professional expertise and her ability to apply translation skills in specialized academic and administrative contexts.

Throughout her academic and professional career, Dr. Thuraya has successfully combined practical experience with academic knowledge. She has delivered a number of specialized training courses in the areas of legal contract translation, international trade terminology, as well as journalistic and medical translation. She has also participated in numerous conferences and research activities locally and internationally as a representative of the University of Tripoli, contributing several scholarly papers within her field of specialization.

In 2021, she was awarded the Shield for Best Research Participation, presented by the Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, in recognition of her academic and research excellence. On 23 December 2025, she obtained her PhD degree, with her dissertation being recorded as the first doctoral dissertation in Libya in the field of English language studies. Her dissertation examined the digital discourse of the University of Tripoli website through a comparative study with the websites of several internationally renowned universities, namely the University of Cambridge, Qatar University, and the National University of Singapore, highlighting the academic and applied dimensions of the study and its significance in advancing institutional university discourse.

Professor Thuray Al-Wifati was appointed on 02.09.2010 and contributed to supporting the Translation Section in its inception by helping to draw up its educational plan and develop its curriculum. She was promoted academically as Professor of Assistant

External Activities

Besides being a faculty member of the university, she works as a legal translator providing translation services to many bodies and individuals. Its work was highlighted by the translation of the bill on eliminating cyberviolence and hate speech in cooperation with a legal team. It also published the English version of a magazine that the Free Zone of Misrata Port published. She was also assigned as a member of the Audit Committee of the Quality Centre on his audit visit to Al Rafiq Al Ahliyah University. Believing in the importance of community action and voluntary service, she has contributed. She continues to engage in many community activities as a leader of the Scout Movement and a guide of the Andalus District Division, Tripoli. In cooperation with the Libyan Centre for Children's Arts and the Nahr Children's Rights Organization, it has continued its activities.  She has also extended specialized training courses in such areas as translation of legal contracts and diplomatic documents, as well as medical reports, through which participants from various academic and functional sectors are trained.

Contributed to the effective success of the Puzzle Work initiative on the development of the skills of the university student, where it was recently hosted at the Faculty of Human Medicine at the invitation of the College's Students' Union to offer a training workshop on the translation of medical reports, attended by a large number of female students from the faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy
