Dr. Nuredin Ahmed is a Full University Professor in the Computer Engineering Department at the University of Tripoli. He completed his Ph.D. in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, UK, in 2011.
With a strong background in applied sciences, Dr. Ahmed is an experienced researcher and educator, focusing on Embedded Systems, Wireless Sensor Networks, IoT, and Smart Grids. His teaching approach connects theoretical knowledge with real-world applications through practical examples.
Dr. Ahmed’s leadership experience includes serving as Head of the Computer Engineering Department at Azzaytuna University (2011-2013) and General Manager of Projects and Technical Affairs Administration. He also held the significant position of Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy (2014-2015) and was previously Head of the Higher Education Office at the College of Computer Technology - Tripoli.

The main research interests are Embedded systems, Wireless networks with a recent focus on the Internet of Things and smart grids.
External Activities
- In 2014, served Nuredin as Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy and a member of several ministerial committees.
- Participated in many local and international scientific conferences as a scientific technical member and as reviewer of research papers relatedto his speciality. He also conducted many diverse training workshops in his field of specialization.
- A prominent member of civil society organisations, most notably - a founder and a member of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Development Track Organization.
