Description

This program grants a master's degree in geophysics by studying a number of specialized and supporting courses, and after passing them, a research project is presented in geophysics topics supported by research papers.

Objectives

1. Preparing the student adequately scientifically so that he can master the basics of geophysics in order to draw the required results from practical experiments.

2. Giving the student the opportunity to study in-depth in the fields of geophysics while using the necessary methods to keep pace with and enrich modern scientific research.

3. Guiding and training the student on scientific research methods while allowing him to participate and contribute in his field of specialization, under the supervision of specialists.

4. Identify the basic concepts in the various fields of geophysics, as well as employing these principles and basic concepts in the student's future professional life.

5. The student should be familiar with and master modern technologies in order to employ them and choose the appropriate career path for him.

Entry Reuirements

Students are accepted according to the criteria in force in the internal regulations for postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Science, University of Tripoli. The applicant is accepted to join the postgraduate program as follows:

  • The applicant must have a bachelor's degree from a recognized educational institution.
  • The applicant must successfully pass the admission test prepared by the department.
  • The department has the right to compare the applicants through the result of the differentiation exam to choose the best, according to the number specified for the batch by the department.
  • Admission does not contradict the regulations governing postgraduate studies in Libyan universities or the internal regulations for postgraduate studies in the college.
  • The applicant must have studied and successfully passed the preliminary (remedial) courses, in case he was asked to do so, according to the requirements of the courses for the postgraduate program.

Study Plan

The Master in Geophysics prepares students to qualify for Master in Geophysics. The student studies several subjects which have been carefully chosen in this major to cover its different aspects.

It comprises 6 Semesters of study, in which the student will study a total of 38 units, which include 12 units of general subjects, and 0 major units, 18 of elective units. In addition to a final project in the student's major.
