Dr.Fahima Mohamed Bannur is currently working as the Head of the Department of English, Faculty of Education, Tripoli.  An enthusiastic and dedicated personality with good experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) to different levels in the Libyan schools and universities. She has extensive knowledge in the fields of education and research due to her teaching experience in the educational field. She has the ability to motivate others and create an effective academic work environment to achieve the target goals. During her teaching journey, she taught many courses, such as; grammar, grammatical structures, reading, writing, Listening and speaking, literature, translation, applied linguistics, teaching language skills, teaching language to young learners, presentation skills, teaching methods and  writing research methods. In addition, she has good experience in research and publishing, supervising graduation projects, teacher preparation programs, educational tests, assessment and evaluation, and translation

Careers

She was appointed as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of English at the Faculty of Arts, University of Tripoli. Then, in 2006, she obtained a master's degree in English from the Faculty of Arts, University of Tripoli.  During this period, she taught English at the faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Engineering. In 2016, she obtained her PhD from UiTM University, Shah Alam, Malaysia. In 2017, she worked as a lecturer at the faculty of Arts and the faculty of Education at the University of Tripoli where she taught many English courses. Currently, she continues her work as an assistant professor in the Department of English at the faculty of Education, Tripoli.

In addition, she worked as an assistant coordinator of studies and examinations in 2018 and coordinator of studies and examinations from 2019 to 2021. She also was assigned as a member within a number of committees, such as; the faculty of Education examinations’ committees between 2019-2021, the Scientific Committee of the English Department, the Scientific Committee of the Faculty of Education, and the post-graduate Studies Committee of faculty of. Education.

Research Interests

The research interests are related to the field of specialization, especially in the field of teaching, constructing and evaluating tests, Test validation, technology in education, translation, and the quality of education. She published a number of research papers in these area

External Activities

In addition to the academic and administrative tasks, Fahima participated in a number of external activities, such as participating in the final examination committees at the Faculty of Education, Tripoli (2019-2021), teaching English to secondary school students in Libya and Malaysia, and contributing as a reviewer and referee for many local and international conferences and scientific journals. She also taught Arabic to Malaysian Muslims who are non-native speakers of Arabic.

    Besides, she has a membership in some associations, as the Malaysian Association for Language Tests (MALT) in Malaysia, and The Libyan Association for Educational Sciences. She has also participated as an editorial board member in some scientific journals such as, the Journal of the Faculty of Education, Tripoli Alhadera Scientific Journal and The Libyan Journal for Education Sciences.
