Roles
Hala is an assistant professor at the Web Technologies department, and currently she is deputy dean of the faculty of information technology. With a solid research background and an exceptional teaching portfolio. She is interested in developing a career that combines teaching and research while maintaining her interest in public engagement in the wider STEM field. Before that, Hala worked as a lecturer in the software department from 2013 to 2020. She is the former head of the quality and performance evaluation department at the faculty of information technology from 2018–2022, and the former head of the web technologies department from 2017–2018. Hala obtained her BSc degree in Computer Science from the University of Tripoli in 1997, Libya, and her MSc in Computers and Internet Technologies from the University of Strathclyde, UK, in 2009. Hala earned her PhD in information technologies from IBU University in 2022.

Research Interests
Hala's current research interests include data science, medical image analysis, computer vision, and deep learning. Hala is a creative member at the Data and Multimedia Lab (D&M Lab) at the Faculty of Information Technology. She has several in-progress research projects in agent-based modelling, deep learning, and data science with multidisciplinary teams, such as the modelling of epidemiological disease and the detection and classification of landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERW) using deep learning. Recently, Hala has been working on the medical image processing domain using deep learning, particularly generative networks.
External Activities
Hala participated in many local and international scientific conferences as a technical member and reviewer, and she also conducted many diverse training workshops in her field of specialization.
