Description

       French is a major world language, spoken in many parts of Europe, Africa and the Americas. Master in French Language provides comprehensive training in all areas of French studies. Students achieve an in-depth knowledge of French. They also develop an advanced understanding of the traditions, aims, and methods of scholarly research in the field.       

       This program provides a thorough understanding of aspects of French and Francophone culture within a broadly interdisciplinary focus. Students have the opportunity, among other things, to learn key methods and issues in textual criticism, engage in theoretical analysis, improve their language skills, or deepen their historical understanding

       The program will appeal to students wishing to extend their knowledge in this field and/or preparing for future PhD work. Students will gain in-depth knowledge about the French environment, improve their writing and oral skills, and learn to evolve confidently and efficiently in a professional French environment.

 

PROGRAM STRUCTURE 

       The program is offered full time over the course of one and a half academic years. You will need to complete 33 credit hours (30 credit hours in taught units and 3 credit hours in the dissertation).

       The program consists of two phases: the teaching phase and the dissertation phase. The teaching phase is divided into three terms, fall, spring and fall which run from September to January, January to June and September to January respectively. The dissertation can only be undertaken upon successful completion of the taught component of the course.

       Students will develop language and communications skills to a high level of proficiency through the study of French and Francophone language, literature and culture. They will have the opportunity to engage with a number of research-led specialist topics.

  • The student should master the use of the French language according to scientific foundations and rules.
  • To deepen the student's understanding of the culture of the language and the means of using it in various occasions.
  • The student interacts well with the French culture in order to achieve the concept of communication and exchange of knowledge and experiences.
  • That the student contribute to building society through a professional skill related to the field of the French language, such as translation or teaching.

Outcomes

  • An advanced understanding of language and literature in French in a global context and from all historical periods
  • Writing and research skills appropriate to professional use and observation of ethical practices
  • A near-native mastery of the French language, including the ability to write in French at a level appropriate to professional use, and to communicate with native French speakers
  • The ability to teach specific works and literary concepts at the advanced high school level, work as language instructors at the college level

  • A bachelor's degree with a general grade of no less than good.
  • Pass the comparison and admission exam.

Study Plan

The Master in French Language prepares students to qualify for Master in French Language. The student studies several subjects which have been carefully chosen in this major to cover its different aspects.

It comprises 3 Semesters of study, in which the student will study a total of 33 units, which include 3 units of general subjects, and 30 major units

French is the language of this course. This course aims to deepen students' awareness of how to write a solid essay topic. The article has its own foundations and techniques in terms of presenting the idea in a manner that takes into account the general principles and controls of writing.

French is the language of this course. This course aims to provide students with the ability to conduct an oral dialogue by introducing some of its vocabulary and providing opportunities for spontaneous expression. Given the difficulty for students to break into this aspect, in order to provide the appropriate climate to break the psychological barrier and reach spontaneous expression through the debates that take place during lectures and what students are assigned to prepare in this context.

French is the language of this course. This course aims to give students a general vision of contemporary French literature from a historical overview of the literature, while giving some cases through selections of poetry, novels, or short stories, with their explanation and clarification.

This course aims to provide students with some terminology regarding acquisition, attainment, teaching, learning, and performance ability, while providing them with how to provide an explanation of a specific topic, with a focus on the relationship between the professor and the student and how to find a way to interact within the classroom.
