University of Tripoli - Department of Journalism

Description

The Multimedia Master's Program in Media comes within cooperation agreements with the European Program (Erasmus Plus), in which five European scientific institutions are involved: the International University for Languages and Media (Italy), the Mediterranean Universities Association (Italy), the University of Granada (Spain), and the University of Aveiro ( Portugal), and Sapienza University (Italy) in cooperation with the following Libyan universities: University of Tripoli, University of Sirte, University of Zawia and University of Misrata.

The University of Tripoli, through the Office of International Cooperation and the Department of Media at the Faculty of Arts and Media, participated in all the meetings that took place during the current year (2019) via Skype or the direct meetings that took place twice in Tunisia in order to optimally prepare for the multimedia master’s program in media.

Objectives

The main objective of this program is to increase the development of the scientific quality of the postgraduate program in the field of media, in order to ensure an effective contribution to the development of the media sector in Libya and to achieve the cultural and civilizational progress of society. Within the framework of this general objective, the following sub-objectives come:

• Reconstructing scientific knowledge and media applied skills in a new framework that links theories with media methodologies, and achieves interaction and mutual dependence between the various media in terms of knowledge and application.

• Breaking the geographical, cognitive and applied barriers to media and communication sciences by linking the studies program in Libya with other programs in European universities as a first stage within the framework of openness to media education and training in various parts of the outside world.

• Bridging the long-standing gap between teaching and training, and between scientific knowledge and applied skills in media fields; This is because the provision of media scientific knowledge in a context that combines media science with media arts, and embodies the cohesion between scientific knowledge and applied skills represents an important qualitative leap in the field of media qualification that must be positively reflected on the development of media work and Libyan media institutions.

• Achieving the optimal qualification of master's students in the field of media so that they are more capable of engaging in media work, whether in the cognitive aspects or the applied scientific aspects that are compatible with the needs of society in terms of faculty members, researchers, analysts and practitioners of the profession.
