Roles

Prior to his appointment as an assistant lecturer at Qaser bin Ghashir Faculty of Education in 2010, Ahmed was teaching at many levels in basic and middle education. He taught general subjects at Haddada Elementary School from 1986 to 1991 / Al-Qarabulli. From 1992 to 1995, he worked as an English teacher at Abu Tayeb Metnabi Preparatory School / Al-Qarabulli. Later in 1997, Ahmed moved to Al-Qarabulli Central Secondary School till 2010.

In 2010, Ahmed was appointed as an assistant professor in University of Tripoli. He taught several English courses in the department of English along with the task of department's study and exam coordinator. In 2012, he served as the Chairperson of the English Department in the same Faculty of Education, and then as the Vice-Dean of the Faculty in 2013.

After earning his doctoral degree in early 2020, he returned as a lecturer in the English Department at Qaser bin Ghashir. Two years later, he was appointed as the Chairperson of the English Department along with his work as a lecturer at the Department.

Ahmed collaborated with many colleges in the private and public sectors from 1998 to 2013 where he taught many courses including linguistics • grammar • phonology • phonetics • conversation • theoretical linguistics • applied linguistics • writing • creative writing • listening • English literature • Ahmed also supervised a number of graduation projects • and supervised many practical education students.

Careers

Ahmed obtained a special English language teaching degree from Ibn Manzoor Institute in 1986. He worked as an elementary education teacher until 1996 when he attended a teacher training institute in Tripoli and obtained a high diploma in language teaching. Ahmed completed his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Arts/Tarhouna and obtained a bachelor's degree in 1999. In early 2003, he joined the Libyan Academy of Postgraduate Studies and completed his master's degree in applied linguistics in 2008. Ahmed travelled to Aligah Muslim University in the Republic of India in 2014. He returned with his PhD in 2020.

Research Interests

The master's thesis research was entitled:

-Evaluating the effectiveness of the teachers` guide in teaching Third-year life science secondary school students textbook

Ahmed published two papers in teaching and learning English:

-Pedagogical Implications of EFL Writing: A Study of Issues and Challenges

-Factors Affecting Learning and Teaching of Spoken English as a Second Language in Libya Using a Case of Tripoli

The doctoral thesis was entitled:

-Designing an Activity-based Training course in spoken English for in-service teachers of secondary schools in Libya- A need-based analysis

External Activities

-Ahmed was chosen to manage the Education File in Al-Qarabulli Municipality by the end of 2011

-He is a member of the Preparatory Committee for the International Scientific Conference of the Libyan Society for Education Sciences 19-20/11/2020 under the theme "Towards reforming the system of the preparation and qualification of the future teacher"
