Abstract

Abstract Teaching writing skills in EFL classroom is a challenging phenomenon because writing is considered as the most difficult skills of language among all the four skills. Teachers across the world apply different strategies and techniques of teaching writing in the classroom pedagogy. EFL students find writing as one of the most difficult skills to learn while native speakers overcome their problems over the period of time. It happens because native speakers use English more on a daily basis whereas the non-native learners do not find an opportunity to use language in their everyday life. Writing as a process is a collection of ideas and opinions about what has to be written and the most important things to take care is that the readers of the written texts. Writing is both mental and physical exercise because it is an amalgamation of cognitive and physical skills. Writing skills depends upon the balance between cognitive and physical skills that how a learner is connecting their ideas and representing orthographically. If one has the competence of the balance between the sounds and words of the target language then it is easier to produce accurate and appropriate texts. This paper aims to explore the problems and issues of teaching writing and what causes poor performance of EFL learners in writing skills. It also aims to develop a kind of module for EFL teachers which can actually help them to learn how to teach writing skills. Key Words: Writing Skills, Cognitive, Pedagogy, Revision, Proof-Reading
