Description

The study is divided into three phases:

The first stage: It includes the first and second academic year.

The second stage: It includes the third academic year.

The third stage: It includes the fourth and fifth academic years.

The fourth stage: It is called the internship stage, and it is the training period that the student spends in clinical training after successfully passing the third stage.

Objectives

1. Graduating veterinarians with high scientific and professional qualifications to enable them to perform their job.

2. Conducting applied scientific research to serve society and the environment through the program of scientific departments and graduate studies.

3. Participation in relevant development projects implemented by public and private institutions.

4. Participation in scientific and cultural programs, workshops, seminars, local and international conferences, and communication with relevant international bodies and organizations.

5. Providing veterinary services in all professional fields.

6. Contribute to environmental sanitation by protecting humans from common and transmitted diseases through animal products.

7. Work on developing and rehabilitating the college's laboratories and laboratories to be a reference in its fields of specialization.

8. Develop programs that contribute to raising awareness and guiding animal breeders in the areas of health and breeding.

Entry Reuirements

Without prejudice to the conditions of education in Libyan universities prescribed by the applicable legislation, the college council determines the college’s absorptive capacity before the beginning of each academic year. It is required to accept those who apply to study at the College of Veterinary Medicine to obtain the first university degree (Bachelor of Veterinary Medical Sciences) to meet the general conditions determined by the current legislation. for acceptance are as follows:

  • He must have a high school diploma, the scientific section, or its equivalent.
  • To have obtained the total passing grades as determined by the college and university.
  • Be of good conduct.
  • To be in good health.
  • To pass the admission test and personal interview.
  • Not to be registered with any other college or university.
  • To be a full-time student at the college.
  • International students may be accepted after all conditions are met.
  • Non-Arab students must submit evidence of their ability to achieve academic achievement in the Arabic language.

Students of other nationalities may be accepted on the condition that:

a. The student must fulfill the college admission requirements mentioned in Article (13) of the College Bylaw.

B. Obtaining approval for the study from the concerned authorities.

c. To be residing in Libya as usual and in accordance with legal procedures throughout the period of his studies.

D.. Commitment to pay fees and study expenses in accordance with the regulations, decisions and legislation issued and in force at the university.

e. Acceptance documents are submitted complete with the required credits from the competent authorities and delivered through the general registrar of the university.

Study Plan

The Bachelor in Veterinary Science prepares students to qualify for Bachelor in Veterinary Science. The student studies several subjects which have been carefully chosen in this major to cover its different aspects.

It comprises 5 Years of study, in which the student will study a total of 122 units, which include 6 units of general subjects, and 116 major units

Aware with the dietary nutrients needs for animals, primarily those in Agriculture and food and to ensure that students have good information about healthy food is a choice, before you can fully explore that choice, which it helps to have a bit an understanding about what food is and what it delivers to your body.  students should have sufficient knowledge about essential nutrients, which can’t make either for we or form animals in sufficient quantities to meet daily requirements.  So we should added to the diet such as minerals, most vitamins, some amino acids and some fatty acids.  Also they should know about the Non-essential nutrients that can be synthesized within the body, but insufficient amounts to meet the requirements or may also come from the diet.  Providing with full information about sources, chemical composition, digestion, absorption, physiological mode of action, deficiency symptoms of all nutrients such as water, CHO, Protein, Lipids, energy and vitamins and minerals at different growth stages.  Sufficient knowledge to use laboratory facilities (apparatus) for determination the chemical compositions of different feed stuff to be used in the ratio formulation at maintenance and production levels for farm animal feedings.  Provide them with the crucial information about classification of feeds, feed additive types, evaluation of feeds (in-vivo, in-vitro in-sacoo, TDN and in direct method using markers)

FIS506 Fish Diseases 03 Compulsory +

Fish is a high-quality food because it contains proteins and important elements for the growth of the body and maintaining its health, and thus it is an important food and economic source that must be preserved, as well as from the principle of the consolidating of the concept of one health. Here comes the role of the veterinarian to research the health of fish. That is why the course on fish diseases at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tripoli, covers the main principles of fish health, how to evaluate their freshness and meat quality, and the acquisition of knowledge about infectious and non-infectious diseases that affect fish, especially farmed fish. As there are diseases that affect saltwater fish, and others that affect brackish water fish as well as freshwater fish, it also includes diseases that are transmitted from one fish to another in addition to common diseases between fish and humans, and to preserve the sustainability of the biodiversity of fish, which was one of the reasons for the establishment of fish farms. It is necessary this course includes the most important bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic diseases, and diseases that arise during breeding operations or in the environment in which farmed and free-range fish live, especially in light of the resulting marine pollution in its various forms (water quality), and study the characteristics, epidemiology, prevention, control and dealing with the causative factors.
