The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences is considered one of the leading departments in the Faculty of Education. The department has since its inception - which coincided with the beginning of the Faculty of Education - included professors with experience in the fields of educational and psychological specializations, who had a major and prominent role in teaching educational subjects to students of all scientific departments in the college.

The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, through its scientific program, seeks to achieve its mission, which is to prepare and qualify educational cadres specialized in educational and psychological sciences, who are capable of participating in building and developing society.

This is done by preparing specialized graduates and providing them with the skills, abilities, and knowledge related to the educational and psychological characteristics of the learner, the methods of his learning, the ways of dealing with him, and the methods of guiding, directing, and solving his problems.

The educational program offered by the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, with the competence of its professors and their experiences, achieves leadership and excellence in preparing qualified cadres scientifically, educationally, and professionally in light of the requirements and characteristics of the era, locally and regionally.

Mission

Preparing and qualifying distinguished educational cadres specialized in educational and psychological sciences in light of developments in psychological sciences and contemporary educational trends and in accordance with comprehensive quality standards. Through competent faculty members who activate technology, teach using modern strategies, are proficient in objective evaluation methods, and are proficient in scientific research skills, as well as interest in the professional development of faculty members, continuous development of curricula and teaching methods, and effective contribution to community service

Objectives

The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences aims to achieve the following: -

1. Graduating qualified teachers in the specialization of educational and psychological sciences to work in the secondary education stage.

2. Raising the level of knowledge related to educational and psychological sciences, within the limits of the department’s objectives and its close relations with society.

3. Covering the educational and psychological aspect of students in other specializations by providing them with the information and experiences necessary to scientifically and professionally train the future teacher in the various specializations.

4. Working to open the field for postgraduate studies, and localizing knowledge of educational and psychological sciences by paying attention to the movement of translation, writing, and scientific research, and participating in scientific conferences at home and abroad.

5. Participate in community service by activating the partnership between the College of Education and community institutions related to public and private education and mental health through research projects and advisory and training services.

6. Working to provide an environment and work relationships that enhance the spirit of belonging to the department, the college, and the community.

7. Consolidating and disseminating the foundations, concepts and practices of quality among all members of the department.

8.. Making the most of the capabilities provided by modern technical means and information technology.
