Online session for Education "on higher education and mobility opportunities available for refugees"

In October 2020, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) launched UNHCR’s Opportunities in response to a widely articulated need for a portal featuring verified up-to-date information on higher education and mobility opportunities available for refugees. The platform currently features 47 scholarship opportunities and aims to improve and grow in partnership with academic institutions and others providing higher education opportunities for refugees across the globe, including opportunities to study in the country of asylum, online and abroad. It will particularly highlight higher education opportunities that offer pathways towards durable solutions.

The portal includes a search engine that allows users to browse, search and share details about relevant programmes as shared by programme providers with direct links to their online sites. UNHCR verifies that each programme is legitimate and provides the necessary protection elements to ensure refugee students can safely and equally participate.

Six month after the launch of the Opportunities portal UNHCR would like to invite you to a 1h briefing session for Education Provides and cover the following topics:

  • Overview of the site usage analytics since launch.
  • Quick analysis of the feedback from users received thus far.
  • New feature for Education Providers to create an individual profile to register and manage opportunities posted to the Opportunities site.
  • Q&A
