Many foreign langiluage learners face lots of learning barriers and find difficulties in understanding the educational system of the host country .language is perceived as a barrier in study abroad programs as it may limits students'opportunities to show their full potential in college and universities . The purpose of this research is to understand the effect of language barriers between studying abroad students and the host population and the other factors that decrease the students enjoyment . In order to obtain the findings a questionaire tool was used in the study. The questionnaire was divided in to two parts . The first part began with general personal questions about age educational level ..... etc . The second part included fourteen specific questions regarding the language barriers and other major factors that prevent libyan students from showing their full potentail in colleges and univeraities . Sixty participants were included in the study . The data was analyzed using the statiatical package for social science (SPSS) to obtain accurate results. The findings of this study showed that language barriers are one of major problems that libyan students faced abroad as well as academic culture differences seem to play a more important role in affecting learners 'learning outcomes. Students and teachers with different learning and teaching experiences have different expectations from each other which can potentially impact on the learning outcomes in the international classroom . This can also led to a negative experience and foster a stereotypical view of certain students based on their educational behaviors. Hoping to reduce the negative impact of this phenomenon at academic setting in particular, the researcher has strived to come up with some relevant suggestionand recommendations .
