Abstract
The international telecommunications system consists of sovereign international carriers interconnecting among each other for the purpose of exchanging international telecommunications traffic. The International Carriers offer several quality levels and prices for call terminated at each and every destination world-wide. However, The current trends of the international voice traffic are driving carriers towards providing better calls quality at the minimum cost possible by optimize the routing of the calls based on the least cost route as well as the best call quality. The routing optimization allows certain thresholds to the quality and profitability in order to ensure that they won’t fall under certain acceptable levels. The Quality of service (QoS) parameters such as Answer to Seizure Ratio, Average Call Duration and Network Efficiency Ratio are necessary to provide an indication of quality of service, and therefore, to be an important parameter point when selecting services offered by different providers. If service features or price are similar, quality becomes the differentiator for users. In this paper, we are working on a routing optimization to minimize the cost along with maximizing the quality using real data traffic collected from international telecommunication company. The optimizing model considering the quality observed on the available routes, the profitability of transiting each source-destination combination and the limited capacity of the available routes. The results show that an enhancement of the call quality of voice traffic have been achieved by overall seized traffic, Average call duration and network efficiency.
