Abstract

hallow foundation from SPT corrected N-value. Finite element software Sigma/w was used to compute settlement of foundation, vertical stresses, vertical displacement, and lateral deformation of foundation based on the soil parameters derived from SPT corrected values. An investigation of 7 boreholes were conducted in the study area using standard penetration Test (SPT) for each borehole. The water of table was found at depth 0.75 m from the ground surface. The collected samples were tested in series tests; sieve analysis, soil classification, water content, specific gravity, and plasticity. Analytical solution was used for estimation ultimate and allowable bearing capacities with settlement. Deformation behavior of the soil were analyzed using Sigma/w in order to estimation settlement, lateral deformation, and vertical stresses under foundation. Results of this study found that using of the derived parameters from SPT correlation in finite element tool can be conduct satisfactory results compared with the analytical solution.
