Abstract

he purpose of this study is to attract the attention of translation students to the fact that the field of translation is an art and only people with special language talents can cope with it. To reach this goal, I made efforts to presen the strong points concerning the subject in order to be followed and acquired and the weak points to be avoided. In this research I tried to analyze and picture the typical character of the qualified translator. I put some conditions or a road map defining the borders of the scientific features of the reliable translator and tried to put a kind of measuring theoretical device to help translation students identify qualified translators from the unqualified ones. Before and after talking this major subject I touched in brief other translation subjects which I saw related to the subject in a way or an other, such as the history of translation, the types of translation and the future of translation process. (To be a good translator or not to be) is what the research tries to prove and say. In fact, it is as real as 'To be a good surgeon or not to be '.. To Be a Good Translator or Not to Be In the field of translation (legal and authorized translation), the person who is requested to transfer ideas and thoughts from one language to another language (written or oral) must be a qualified and reliable person. Unqualified translators are not welcomed in this important field. The role of the good reliable translator is as important as, for example, the role of a good surgeon or a fair judge.
