Abstract

The overall objectives of this research was to investigate aging characteristics of different types of asphalt mixes: Asphalt concrete(AC), stone Mastic Asphalt(SMA), and Porous Asphalt( PA) using different types of asphalt binders as well as different aging conditions. Keeping in mind this general objectives, the main goals of this study read as follow: 1- To transfer and apply the technology of aging of asphalt mixes, which was developed in the SHRP research program, in the USA, using local materials. 2- To study the possibility of using Short-Term Aging and Long-Term Oven Aging. 3- To Investigate the influence of Short-Term Aging and Long-Term Oven Aging on three different types of asphalt mixes (AC, SMA, PA). 4- To study the effectiveness of Long-Term Oven Aging having low air voids (2-4). 5- To study the effect of asphalt type (conventional and elastomer-modified) on aging of asphalt mixes. 6- To examine different aging approaches to perform long-term oven aging than that proposed by SHRP. 7- To investigate the effect of aging on temperature susceptibility of asphalt mixes. 8- Resilient Modulus was used as a tool to evaluate aging.
