Abstract
This paper is an attempt to shed light on the importance of using teaching aids in teaching English as a foreign language and it also investigates the effectiveness of using these aids for developing and teaching English. These aids such as: (pictures, videos, projector, computer, textbook smart board, laboratory, tape-recorder, flash-cards, charts, magazines and video cassette player…etc.) This vividly indicates the importance of teaching aids in foreign language learning. In this respect, this paper is concerned to use teaching aids on teaching English in Libya at the secondary schools. It also aims to show into what extent teaching aids can help the learners learning English effectively in the way that effects on students’ proficiency. On the other hand, the purpose of this paper is to attract the teachers` attention towards the importance of using teaching aids which may facilitate teaching and learning English. Therefore, this paper is concerned with some types of teaching aids that can be used in teaching English for Libyan learners of English at secondary schools
