Abstract

Shyness is a type of feeling of fear and dread in some situations, especially new ones. Shy children always find it difficult to deal with people, as well as expressing their thoughts and ideas. Shyness may be genetic or it may have other causes like: family background, lack of confidence, gender and harsh criticism. Teachers should pay attention for their shy pupils in the classroom, they should help them interact in the oral activities during the lessons. For this purpose, this research was existed to explore the strategies that teachers use in primary schools in both private and public schools inside Janzour as well as identify the most and least used strategies. The data for this research were collected by using a questionnaire consisted of 15 statement, and it was given for 24 teachers selected randomly from different six primary schools. Descriptive analysis of the study showed that the teachers at the primary schools in Janzour city were High strategy users overall. With regard to the classification of strategies from the most to the least used, the results revealed that using group and pair work, storytelling and pair discussion are the most frequently used and using information gap activity role play and presentation are the least frequently used. The finding of the study will help the teachers to develop their skills in dealing with shy pupils
