Abstract
Vocabulary plays a great role in developing learners' communication and language proficiency. Due to the importance of vocabulary in communication and boosting vocabulary development for second and foreign language learners. This research reviews the significance of vocabulary development and vocabulary teaching. It widens the knowledge about the direct and indirect ways of teaching vocabulary and what kind of words teachers need to teach. Furthermore, it reviews the word learning strategies that teachers need to teach for their students.
