ABSTRACT This study aims at investigating errors made in writing essays which conducted on Libyan undergraduate students in the English Language Department at the Faculty of Education, Al-Asmarya University. A convenient sample of 30 English students had taken part in the study through composing brief essays about their daily activities. The written essays were collected and read by the researcher to find out all the errors that were later examined using error analysis process based on Ahmed’s (2014) error categorization. In this process, errors are classified as: Syntax, Morphology, Orthography, and Lexical errors. This study used a descriptive qualitative design.
