This course deals with the study of the concepts of heat and temperature, the study of some types of thermometers and types of temperature gauges, the study of thermal expansion of solid and liquid bodies, the concept of thermal equilibrium, the amount of heat and methods of heat transfer, the properties of fluids at rest and in the state of motion, deriving Bernoulli, Poiseuy and Stock law, study of atmospheric pressure and the bases of Pascal and Archimedes, the phenomenon of surface tension and capillary property, study of the concept of static equilibrium and elasticity, study of some basic laws of thermodynamics.
Intended learning outcomes
That the student be able to convert temperatures from Celsius to Fahrenheit and vice versa and from Celsius to Kelvin and vice versa Be able to explain the meaning of atmospheric pressure and absolute and standard pressure and to enumerate the different pressure units The student distinguishes between longitudinal stress and strain and between shear stress and Shear strain and volume stress and strain. The student should be familiar with the importance of thermodynamics and thermodynamic processes. Know the ideal gas conditions. And solve problems skillfully
Teaching and learning methods
Scientific theoretical lectures and sufficient problem solving
Methods of assessments
The written mid-term exam will be in the fourth week, with an average of 20%. The written exam is a second midterm, and it will be in the sixth week, at a rate of 20%. Final exam with a rate of 60%
