Overview

Understand both fundamental and applications of the instruments that are routinely used for the characterization of biomolecules.• Establish an understanding of the quantitative aspects of biochemical analyses.• Perform some enzyme assays. • Interpret the photographs of electrophoresis runs of Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products.

At the end, of course the student should be able to:

Develop basic practical biochemical skills for the handling and analysis of biomolecules.

Assay the compound qualitatively or quantitatively and Prepare standard curve and determination of concentration of unknown compound.

Interpret kinetic data and make predictions based on a simple model of enzyme kinetics.

Identify electrophoresis bands and comment on them.
