The
course focuses on understanding the main points of short, informal passages and
differentiating main ideas and details. It also emphasizes on basic listening
strategies for a variety of situations, including listening for main ideas and
utilizing learned phrases for class discussion.
Intended learning outcomes
By the end of this course
students should be able to:

in listening and speaking situations where English id the primary language

Utilize strategies to aid with
new vocabulary in speaking and listening

Identify main ideas and key
details expressed in a group discussion listening passage about a general or
conversational topic
Teaching and learning methods
The lecturer uses a variety of teaching methods. For example,
the teacher gives classroom discussions, the use of collaborative learning by
working in groups. The lecturer tries to make the class learner-centred by the
use of different activities and tasks.
Methods of assessments
Continuous Assessment 40 marks.
Final exam: 60 marks.
