The objective of this course is to
teach the students the writing modes, rhetorical devices and language points
required for academic success. Students are given the opportunity to explore
their opinions, discuss their ideas, and share their experiences through
written communication. Students are introduced to practice writing short
essays on different topics.
Intended learning outcomes
By the end of this course
students should be able to:

feel more confident while writing in English.
2 Develop
strategies for writing different rhetorical modes.
3 Develop useful skills by using the
prewriting techniques and editing and
revising skills.
4. Improve students' ability to write
coherent short essays.
5. Improve
students written communication.
6. Teach them how to teach writing.
Teaching and learning methods
The lecturer uses a variety of teaching methods. For example,
the teacher gives classroom discussions, the use of collaborative learning by
working in groups. The lecturer tries to make the class learner-centred by the
use of different activities and tasks.
Methods of assessments
First mid-term: 20 marks.
Second mid-term: 20 marks.
Final examination: 60 marks.
