The
aim of the course is to provide the student with a variety of suitable material
for writing. The most important aim is to introduce the concept of Academic
Writing and specifically to train the students to use the Academic Styles. Then
students are introduced to paraphrasing, summarizing,

By the end of this course
students should be able to:
Write different academic writing styles.
Paraphrase and summarize.
Quote and add in-text & end list
references correctly.
Interpret data from different graphs,
diagrams and tables.
Avoid plagiarism.
Write reports.
Teaching and learning methods
The lecturer uses a variety of teaching methods. For example,
the teacher gives classroom discussions, the use of collaborative learning by
working in groups. The lecturer tries to make the class learner-centred by the
use of different activities and tasks.
Methods of assessments
First mid-term: 20 marks.
Second mid-term: 20 marks.
Final examination: 60 marks.
