Overview

This course answers the question: how to teach English? It introduces students to methods of teaching. This includes theory of learning and teaching, nature of teaching, lesson planning etc. It reflects recent methodological developments and trends.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of this course students should be able to: Know the essential features of learning and teaching English language.Know the recent teaching methods and techniques. Compare the different available methods and techniques of teaching English and to decide upon which methods best suits their teaching styles.Help them gain confidence and to be inspired in their future career as ELTs. Put knowledge into practice

Teaching and learning methods

The lecturer uses a variety of teaching methods. For example, the teacher gives classroom discussions, the use of collaborative learning by working in groups. The lecturer tries to make the class learner-centred by the use of different activities and tasks

Methods of assessments

Mid-term: 40 marks.Final examination: 60 marks.
