This course
teaches students about English literature. It includes a ballad, poems, sonnets
and a short story. It aims to make students Identify and analyze a variety of
English literary works, develop appreciation for literary works, analyze
figurative language and figures of speech and develop fluency and encourage
reading for pleasure.
Intended learning outcomes
By
the end of this course students should be able to:
1. Provide a survey English
literature.
2. Provide a survey of different
Literary Eras.
3. Develop strategies for
appreciation of literary works.
4. Help students to gain an
appreciation of the value of the short story form in providing insights into
the human experience.
5. Develop fluency and encourage reading for pleasure
Teaching and learning methods
The lecturer uses a variety of teaching methods. For example,
the teacher gives classroom discussions, the use of collaborative learning by
working in groups. The lecturer tries to make the class learner-centred by the
use of different activities and tasks.
Methods of assessments
Midterm exam 40 marks.
Final exam: 60 marks.
