Overview

Identify the concepts of mental health and mental illness and related concepts. Providing learners with theoretical and practical information that enables them to raise the level of mental health. Providing learners with information related to psychological counseling and educational guidance by identifying the nature of psychological problems and general behavioral deviations, realizing the relationship between the psychological compatibility of the learner and the level of his academic achievement, identifying mental illnesses, their causes, ways to diagnose them, and ways to treat them.

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student must be able to:

1. Explain the concepts of mental health and psychological congruence.

2. Discusses psychological needs and means of psychological defense.

3. Explain in detail the concept of psychological illnesses, and their causes.

4. List the psychological diseases and the ways to diagnose them and the means to treat them.

5. Explain the concept of psychological problems and their relationship to school health.

6. Explain mental health and its relationship to psychological harmony.

7. Compare types of psychological defense.

8. Analyze some patterns of psychological diseases and behavioral aberrations.

9. Discuss some psychological illnesses and their relationship to low academic achievement.

10. Infer the relationship between psychological problems and school health.

11. Use knowledge of the historical development of the concept of mental health and related concepts.

12. Employ his knowledge of psychological needs and defensive tricks in his/her career as a future teacher.

13. Apply knowledge of the concept of psychological illness to understanding others' psychological states.

14. Use his or her knowledge of psychological diseases to help his or her students achieve psychological harmony and self-confidence.

15. Make a visual presentation that shows some psychological and behavioral problems, their causes, their diagnosis, and remedies.

16. Work in a groups.

17. Self-learn and continuous learning.

18. Use computer technology and the Internet to search for information

Methods of evaluating students in this course (class work 40% & final 60%)

First written test (multiple choice mode)
