This course is designed to achieve the general objectives in the
form of outputs that the student is supposed to acquire after successfully
completing the course, as follows: 1. Studying how the earth was created and
the changes that occurred to it through tectonic movements during the
geological eras. 2. Identifying the development of the biosphere during the
successive geological eras, through what the stratigraphic sequence lists, as
well as studying the basic rules of stratigraphy.3. Study the diversity of
plant (Flora) and animal (Fauna) fossils.
4. Learn the details of the geological time scale.
Intended learning outcomes
By passing this
course, the student is supposed to be familiar with the following practical and
professional skills:
1. That the
student develops a simplified visualization of the movement of the earth's
crust plates and its impact on the distribution of the continents.
2. The student should use the rock and
biological characteristics to differentiate between the ages of the layers and
geological formations.
3. That the
student be able to know the time periods of each geological era and the quality
of life that prevailed in it.
4. That the student be able to distinguish
between the geological eras and eras, as well as the geological events that
occurred in them.
Teaching and learning methods
The course is taught according to the following methods:· Lectures· Laboratory activities· Collection of information· Panel Discussions
Methods of assessments
Evaluation is done
through theoretical exams, practical exams, assignments, and writing scientific
reports.
