Overview

The general objectives of the course that the student is supposed to acquire after successfully completing the course are summarized as follows:

1. Introduce students to sedimentary basins and their relationship to oil resources in Libya

2. Enable students to learn about the history and details of oil exploration and extraction in Libya and the challenges facing the sector

3. Enable students to evaluate oil and gas resources in Libya and compare them with other countries

4. Introducing students to the concepts and objectives of sustainable development related to the oil sector.

Intended learning outcomes

By passing this course, the student is assumed to be familiar with the following practical and professional skills:

1. The student should have the ability to evaluate the oil resources in Libya and be familiar with the legislation related to the oil sector in Libya as well as the international organizations of which it is a member.

2. That the student be able to familiarize himself with the characteristics of oil reservoirs and know how to develop oil fields and increase their production efficiency

3. The student should use geological and geophysical information to determine the location of oil

4. Familiarity with oil and gas production rates from existing oil fields and ways to reduce their environmental impacts
